Kit Major –
Miss Ego EP (2026) Review

The Miss Ego EP gets 4.5 out of 5 Scum Drops from me. Find out more, below.

Hello reader,

Welcome back. Hope you’re alright.

Today, we’re going to delve into Kit Major again. This time for a review. As both her bio and we at SWT said previously, “‘Kit Major is an impenetrable rock ‘n roll force from Los Angeles, blending the raw edge of punk with the grit of grunge. Known for razor-sharp hooks and chaotic, high-voltage live shows, Kit Major carved out a world that’s rebellious, messy, and undeniably fun.’ She’s a self-proclaimed Dirty Misfit. And we at SWT dig that vibe. You probably do as well. You’re in the right place.”

Caught your attention? It has held our attention at SWT for months. Back in February, we shared an exclusive premiere of one of the singles, “Not As Witty As I Used To Be,” and in March, we did a Singles Spotlight on another single, “Punk Rock Boyfriend,” both off the EP we’re going to review today.

Exploring Kit Major’s discography and you’ll see her debut EP release, Vampire Saturday EP (2022), followed by 2024’s Love.Sick.Major EP, and now on Friday, June 12th, on the Futureless label, which will be her third release, the Miss Ego EP. Something we’ve been looking forward to for several months now.

And now for some hype for both your ears and eyes via Kit Major’s YouTube channel and Quiet Panic:

The Miss Ego EP packs a lot of music into thirteen minutes of listening. As the best EPs do, you quickly jump aboard a train car through its open doors, the doors close, and you’re speeding on the journey of its mercy. Sometimes the journey is concretely defined; other times, not as much, and you’re treated to unexpected but welcome detours. While aboard, you dance and groove to the beats and words, and a few stops later, the subway is at its final stop. Your adrenaline is spiked, and you want more. A good EP is great at doing all of the above, and Miss Ego is another example of this. It’s modern-day punk in its aesthetic, its melodies, pacing, lyrics, and vocal deliveries, to name a few. Take a listen for yourself and you’ll find out more things on your own. After listening more than a few times, I think it’s Kit Majors’ best and most complete work to date, as she finds excellent musicianship backing up Major, and she shows more confidence as both a songwriter and vocalist within this EP. As good as these songs sound now, the energy of hearing them live, as part of a collective, unified experience, would be fantastic.

All that being said, Miss Ego EP gets 4.5 out of 5 Scum Drops from me. It’s an excellent EP overall, and relative to 2026, it ranks among the best EPs. Femme-fronted punk or punk adjacent music continues to create and release albums and EPs this year, and this release and Poolgirl are just two of many examples of recent releases that one should not only take note of but listen to on repeat. Explore the genre! Delve. Add the Miss Ego EP to your collection of the format of your choosing. I hope it gets a vinyl release at some point!

I’ll always advocate that you take the time to listen to every album in its entirety. The listening process for the Miss Ego EP will take less than 15 minutes from start to finish, and less than 30 minutes if you listen to it twice back-to-back. Along the way, you’ll discover your own favorite songs without the influence or bias of others. After several listens, I found the songs highlighted in green below to be my favorites on this album.
