“Luna”

I’m excited to discuss a recently formed English group that’s about to make some noise beyond the pond. The Certs were formed in the south of England in 2024, and the quartet features lead vocalist and guitarist Carter Elvis Robinson, guitarist Amos Burton, bass player Fin Chaney, and drummer Lucas Carkeek-Blakley. At SWT, we’re happy to advocate for the Surrey-based band so early in their career.

The band released their debut EP, entitled Here Today Gone Tomorrow EP (2024), and recently released an outstanding single, “Luna”.  Within The Certs’ press kit, they talk about the song, stating, “The band’s latest single ‘LUNA’ delivers an important message of hope and solidarity. The song speaks to anyone struggling with their mental health, reminding listeners that they are never alone and that support can be found through shared experiences and human connection.” Right on, we’re always willing to not only listen but share songs with a powerful and impactful message with y’all. 

Upon first listen, I knew it had to be shared with the SWT audience as part of our Singles Spotlight series and as an introduction to The Certs. The drums are propulsive from the opening notes, carrying the melody that adds some great guitarwork and offers a fantastic solo or two, and maybe even moments of calm and reflection depending on your perspective. I tend to think so. Carter Robinson’s lead vocals are poignant, and the lyrics stick with you, especially the chanted chorus portions. It’s because of these things and more that I believe “Luna” is a wonderful introduction to the talents of Surrey-based foursome The Certs. This song is probably amazing in a live setting due to its energy and meaning. Take a listen for yourself and tell us what you think!
