Singles Spotlight:
Kit Major –
“Punk Rock Boyfriend”

Hello reader,

How have you been?

Back in February, I was excited to share the song premiere for the lead single, “Not As Witty As I Used To Be,” off of Kit Major’s upcoming Miss Ego EPThis EP will be released on Friday, June 12th, via the Futureless label and will be her third release after her debut, 2022’s Vampire Saturday EP, and 2024’s Love.Sick.Major EP. A talented mMajor has garnered acclaim for her punk and DIY ethos, her energy, swagger, grit, and fiery in the best ways persona during her live shows. Those fortunate enough to witness a live performance can attest to this, whether fans or members of the press. At SWT, we love all of this verbiage and imagery, so we know we have to spread the word about Kit Major. I think you’ll become a fan right away during your first listen.

The press release for the newest EP single offers even more hype, stating, “Known for her signature sound of grunge-punk bite, Major has drawn comparisons to Iggy Pop, Viagra Boys, Amyl & The Sniffers, but Miss Ego is less about lineage and more about liberation. The EP rips into issues of image, self-worth and expectation, and explores how much space a woman is allowed to take onstage, in relationships, in the rock scene and in the world.” Hell yeah, as connosiours of decades of punk and adjacent genres, I’m stoked. What about you?

Today, we’re thrilled to continue our support of Major by shedding some spotlight on the song “Punk Rock Boyfriend”.  From the single’s press release, Major declared, “The world needs more honesty, and sometimes that’s shouting out, ‘I WANT A BOYFRIEND.” While I absolutely love each of the six tracks on the talented LA-based musician’s Miss Ego EP, and I know you will too once you hear them, one of the best songs on Miss Ego EP is “Punk Rock Boyfriend”. The video is a blistering 1:37 of fury in the best ways. Even those adverse to punk or the idea of it can get behind this song. It’s got so much energy and is sung with heart-on-your-sleeve, brutal honesty, which will instantly grow on you in a warm, hug kind of way. It shouldn’t make one anxious or stressed. After a few listens, you’ll be in the pit yourself, wanting to go to one of their shows even if you’re listening in your own living room in the present day. After a few listens, the song may provide some catharsis for you. Don’t take my word for it, check out the song for yourself!

The awesome official video for the song, “Punk Rock Boyfriend,” puts you in the room and you instantly feel the energy within:
