“Out of Time” Video Premiere
via Alba Fury

Hello,

I’m back with some fantastic news. SWT is proud to exclusively premiere a video for the debut single of an awesome up-and-coming band from Scotland!

Alba Fury is based in the capital city of Edinburgh, but the band hails more specifically from Leith, a port district in the north of Edinburgh. Alba Fury consists of Michael Ward (lead vocals), Sam Greig (guitar), Jamie Thomson (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Fraser Plumb (drums). They define their music style as post-punk, and I think that alt-indie is also a fitting genre to conceptualize the band’s sound. Fans of Fontaines D.C., Sprints, Joy Division, and Young Fathers will enjoy their sound. The first two bands have released some of the universally best-regarded albums of this year.

From their press release, “They came together in early 2023 after former West Lothian bandmates Jamie Thomson and Michael Ward (co-founder of La Sierra Casa songwriting camp with The View’s Kyle Falconer) decided to develop some demo ideas together.”

On November 15th, Alba Fury released their debut single “Out of Time” and once again, we’re proud to share this video with our readers as an exclusive to SWT. You’re among the first to see it, please spread the word after you do so!

Jamie Thomson the band’s songwriter and bass player is quoted within the press release as stating, “‘Out of Time’ is a song about mortality. It’s about realising that our time on earth is limited, and the only thing we can do is accept it. It’s a pretty bleak subject, but I think it’s also quite life-affirming. The song is an exploration of impermanence and the conflicting feelings that go with it. I guess it’s also a way of trying to connect with people who have similar contradictory feelings about what it means to make the most of your life.”

From the band’s YouTube page, is the visualizer for the excellent song, “Out of Time”:

My thoughts? I love the way this anthemic song builds momentum and energy incorporating different instrumentation. The song is catchy as hell, featuring not only awesome driving drums and guitars, with chords that bend genres but also forcefully delivered lyrics that grab ahold of you and don’t let go as layered emotions humans commonly explore such as punctuality and existence. Everything meshes together in a gorgeous display of artistry. And makes me want to hear more from them. Album in 2025?

Check back in with SWT as this won’t be our only Alba Fury content. We’ll have more singles from Alba Fury to come in the coming months as the band releases them.

Follow the band’s Instagram, and keep up to date with their album, touring info and more with their Linktree.
