“Sparrow Sparrow”
and “Overrated Species Anyhow” from Deerhoof Benefitting The Trevor Project

Hello reader,

Every penny from this release goes to The Trevor Project, because in the new world we want to create, we need today’s trans youth to grow into tomorrow’s trans adults.” – Deerhoof in their press release on February 26th, announcing new singles and more.

I saw this news come into our inbox and felt compelled to share it with all of you. Not only is it great new music from a prolific band, Deerhoof, formed in SF in the mid-90s and has released 17 studio albums since 1997, but more importantly, it’s an incredible cause that we at SWT fully support as not only members of humankind but advocates for multiple communities.

While the limited 7″ vinyl appears to be out of stock currently, as it sold out quickly on the 26th, we can still raise awareness and offer further support by purchasing the digital version from Bandcamp. I hope that more vinyl is cut to support the vital work that The Trevor Project does. Keep your eyes peeled and check out those links above.

Also from the press release:

“This ‘Double B-Side’ is meant as a life beam to anyone who has been feeling dehumanized by mainstream society lately. Anyone who didn’t find themselves in the rankings of which races, nationalities, genders, or belief systems have equal value. Anyone who sees life on earth as something more than some capitalist death match. Anyone who got thrown under the bus in the past year’s race to the bottom. Anyone who isn’t one of 2781 billionaires who’ve taken control of the world. Anyone refusing to lick the fascist boot.”

Listen to both songs here, first you’ll hear “Overrated Species Anyhow” followed by “Sparrow Sparrow”:
