Singles Spotlight:
Dan Francis – “Brave The Walk”

Hello,

How are you today?

Today, we’re going to do something that we haven’t done often in SWT’s history to date. While we love to advocate for an up-and-coming artist, we often haven’t done so in single form but look for more of that in 2025.

Adding to the excitement is that today’s featured musician is releasing their work under a new moniker and sharing their first single, “Brave The Walk,” with you.

UK native singer-songwriter Dan Francis has undertaken a few music projects that didn’t end the way he wished. Francis originally hails from Northamptonshire (located within East Midlands region in England) but is now based in Caterham (located within the more populous South East region in England). In the past decade, Francis has worked within the music industry while writing songs on his own.

From the single’s press release, “‘Brave The Walk‘ is a favourite track from a session with Newcastle-based producer James Hall. With the help of Hall and musician OD Jones, Dan decided to finish and release this track, showcasing his unique style and reflective lyrics. The song touches on themes of social awkwardness, problematic social gatherings, and the unexpected feeling of isolation and longing for human connection during the COVID lockdowns, despite expecting to embrace the solitude.”

Dan Francis himself.

While listening to “Brave The Walk” for the first time, it immediately caught my ear. From the opening melody followed by Francis vocal delivery and the confident, forthright tone it was delivered with. I also love how Francis increased the pacing of the melody that becomes frantic in the best ways and soon grows to majestic and memorable heights. It is a song that sticks with you.

So, I knew I had to share it with you, and I think you’ll feel the same way about it. I’ve listened a dozen or more so times to this song, enjoying it each time. I hope Francis dips more toes into the sand and begins to release more songs in the coming months. If their quality is like this, and they’re as polished, a collection of songs would make a great album. I also feel this would put Francis well on his way towards his most fruitful music project yet!
