Singles Spotlight:
Absolute Losers –
“In The Crowd”

Hello reader,

How are you today?

Today, we’re excited to discuss another group who is making great music: Absolute Losers. They’re a trio from the city of Charlottetown, located in the province of Prince Edward Island, Canada featuring Josh Langille (guitar/vocals), Sam Langille (bass/vocals), and Daniel Hartinger (drums/vocals). I was first introduced to the band a few weeks ago via a press release and listened to a few of their songs and immediately loved what I heard! I was captivated from the start and now I am a big advocate for the band. This is arguably the best band in Canada you haven’t heard of. And maybe beyond that. So I knew SWT readers would enjoy their music as well. Listen and tell me what you think.

The band has one album under their belt, the 2023 release, At The Mall which garnered the band not only some fans but also awards and buzz. And their upcoming release, In The Crowd, September 26th via the awesome label Having Fun Records has already drawn acclaim and praise from others in music media. This is the same label putting out Beta Trip’s debut Suprette that we dug and we mentioned here.

Bassist and vocalist Sam Langille said the following about the album’s concept and title via press release, “The crowd is everyone around you. Friends, family, partners, exes, your inner child… they all make up that crowd. And being in a crowd is funny, you can feel connected and totally isolated at the same time. That paradox runs through the whole album.”

In my opinion, one of the best songs on the fantastic album that is great from start to finish, In The Crowd is the titular “In The Crowd.” While a title song isn’t always the best song and everyone’s favorite song on a given album, I think that’s the case for this album. So, that’s the single that we’re going to spotlight on SWT today. We’re so stoked to share it with you! It’s a powerful song from start to finish as it blasts out of the gate with a earworm, stop and listen type melody that stays strong throughout the song. The musicianship is top notch, and the lyrics are reflective and yearn. While you listen, they will make you reflect as well. The vocals and harmonies? They’re glorious. It’s truly an incredible song regardless of genre or subgenre. And I think that “In The Crowd” is a great introduction to the Absolute Losers.

Take a listen to an excellent song that’ll make you stop what you’re doing and listen again and again, “In The Crowd”:
