Singles Spotlight:
RIVIA – “Piece of You”

Hello reader,

How are you today? If you’re reading this on Labor Day in your residence, may have you have a labor free day!

Today, we’re excited to introduce another artist who is making some great music: RIVIA, a four piece pop-punk from Liverpool, England that has their own unique sound while taking homage from ’80s Classic Rock, ’00’s Alt Rock and other genres in between. The band has been playing within their home country and also around the UK the past handful of years supporting bigger and bigger acts. RIVIA has recently signed to new management and has a new bassist Rosh Carlin. Awesome UK music site, This Feeling has described them as “The Scouse SUM 41” and legendary BBC radio presenter and DJ, John Kennedy called them “Liverpool’s answer to Foo Fighters”.  If you’re a fan of both or music in between, I think you’ll like what you’re about to hear.

The band RIVIA

The band recently released a new single titled, “Piece of You” and it was brought to my attention. I loved the sound from my first listen so I immediately knew that it’d have to shed some spotlight on it and share it with you in our Singles Spotlight series on SWT.

The singles’ press release states, “‘Piece of You’ has all the hallmarks of a RIVIA anthemic single, big choruses and nostalgic pop-punk overtones…The new single captures a grunge-esque angst and combines it with anthemic, catchy melodies of 2000’s pop-punk. The theme of the lyrics talk about a want or desire for always wanting that next thing, the next win, the next achievement, and actively pursuing it. This is reminiscent of the bands desire for success not just their music career but personal lives as well. A message anyone with a sense of ambition can resonate with.”

I’m stoked to share this fantastic song, “Piece of You” with you. I think it serves as a good introduction to the band. It’s got incredible guitar work from start to finish, both from the electric and also the bass guitar. The melody charges forward combining driving drum work and powerfully delivered lead vocals and wonderful harmonies from the band. The song truly is anthemic and the lyrics are earworm worthy at times. Fans of good music regardless of genre will love this song, and fans of more specific genres and eras may love it even more as it scratches an itch for you. People that complain there’s no good music on the radio or in general should listen to this song.

Put on your headphones, hit the play button and see what you think of it for yourself right here:
