Singles Spotlight:
Beta Trip – “Juliet”

Hello reader,

How are you today?

Today, we’re excited to introduce another artist who is making some great music he’s about to share with the world: Beta Trip. Toronto-based multi-instrumentalist Steve Lewin has just released his first single under the Beta Trip moniker and will have a debut album, Superette, later this fall.

Recently, I got to listen to the single “Juliet” for the upcoming album, and I was on board immediately, bopping to the beat and the vibe of it. The song is a great introduction to the Beta Trip project. Quite simply, I loved it and knew that if we shared it with you here on SWT, you’d like it as well. We then saw the album cover art and were reminded of some 90s Brit pop album covers, Blur coming to mind instantly as we played the track again. Juliet’s sound and ambiance also feature remnants of Britpop and elements of indie, rock, and more US-based pop. However, don’t think this is a cover or an attempt to replicate past music. It is not. It’s Lewin’s own unique thing. And at SWT, we’re eager to listen to more from this album!

The press release for the single sheds some light and hype on Lewin’s newest album, “Superette is an alternative rock album packed with memorable hooks dynamically woven through ballads and bangers. Like its namesake, Superette offers a small variety of goods with independent charm. Inspired by early musical influences in alt rock, grunge, and Brit pop, multi-instrumentalist Steve Lewin wrote, performed, and produced this collection of memorable songs. This is Beta Trip’s debut album and is released under We Are Busy Bodies’ rock imprint Having Fun Records.”
