Album Preview:
Tucker Riggleman &
The Cheap Dates –
Live and Restless at Olde Mother

Hello Readers,

Welcome back to SWT.

Today we’re excited to share a surprise but welcomed announcement, more music from the awesome WV based band Tucker Riggleman & The Cheap Dates. Earlier this year, the band got onto my radar and put out one of my favorite albums of the year, Restless Spirit, which I talked about here. A few days later, we were fortunate enough to have Riggleman pen a fantastic essay for us about his upbringing, music history, personal battles, and the album-creating process itself.

And on Friday, October 4th to coincide with Bandcamp Friday, Tucker Riggleman & The Cheap Dates released Live and Restless at Olde Mother. The album was recorded live at Olde Mother Brewing in Frederick, MD, and showcases the band in its best form. Live! The songs take from previous releases, including but not limited to Restless Spirit. The awesome modern day take on Rolling Stones’ Exile on Main Street album cover is reason alone to look into this one!

From the band’s email newsletter on October 4th, “The devastation currently impacting western NC and southern Appalachia has weighed heavy on our minds. In light of this, we have decided to give a large portion of proceeds from digital sales of Live and Restless towards boots-on-the-ground efforts to help. Our friend Joanna lives in Asheville where her friends and co-workers have been organizing supply runs to help people in their community. She has agreed to accept and document any funds we send her way. Today is Bandcamp Friday, so it is the best time to maximize proceeds. Get some new tunes + help a good cause = DIY music community doing what we can as a small band.” Listening to an awesome album, and helping those in need?  A win-win to me. And a cause I’ll always support.

How do you listen to and purchase the album? Go right here to the Bandcamp page.

Just a heads up, their fantastic album Restless Spirit still has vinyl copies available here! I can’t recommend the decision to get that album on vinyl enough. I bought a copy for myself months ago.

Happy listening,

Alex
